Except for two years when I lived in England during my childhood.
Although I am looking to be a 5 Carat Blue Diamond Jack of all Trades, I am a “Master” of one thing. I have a Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology and have worked in the research field since I graduated from my Undergrad program. While science is a passion of mine, it has primarily been my source of income. But there are just too many great things to experience in this life to just focus on a job. While working in science, I have found many hobbies to keep my mental health in check. I do not live to work. I work so that I can live, and part of living for me is being able to enjoy my hobbies. Over time I have blended my training as a scientist into some of my other trades!
Science and career comes with stress and for a while I, like many millennials, have been trying to monetize my hobbies as supplemental income. But that in itself is like having another job, and it would be nice to live in a world where we didn’t feel it necessary to monetize all that we are to survive. However, I do love sharing and seeing my talents bring joy, even if just a little, to someone’s life, even if just for a moment.
In 2022, I went on Medical Leave of Absence which gave me time to reflect on career, hobbies, passions, and purpose. And while recovering, I decided to start this website as a creative outlet to help in my recovery. I do not want to monetize a hobby and take something that is joyful and turn it into something stressful. So this website was for me a compromise that allows me to share my talents, minimize any pressure doing it, and if anything on my website resonates with a person, they can decide what it is worth to them. But ultimately, just sharing and knowing I gave someone some joy is what everything on this website is worth to me.
If you explore my website, I hope you find something that helps you in your life, opens your mind, broadens your horizons, or brings you just a little joy in what can seem like a joyless world these days…
